How to Apply

Step 1 — CSU Online Application (mandatory)

  • Register & log in to the CSU international student system and choose Chinese Government Scholarship; submit your application.
  • CSU reviews applications, issues pre-admission letters, and forwards the candidate list to CSC. Final admission is decided by CSC.

Step 2 — CSC Online Application

  • On the CSC system, select Category Type B and enter Agency No. 10533 (CSU).
  • Complete and submit; download the application form (see CGSIS instructions).

Step 3 — Application Fee

  • After passing the primary review, pay the CNY 500 application & review fee via CSU’s unified payment platform (WeChat / Alipay / UnionPay supported).

Step 4 — Academic Review

  • Relevant schools conduct a comprehensive review of academic background, research ability, and innovation potential.

Step 5 — Pre-admission

  • Based on documents and the academic review, CSU issues pre-admission letters.

Step 6 — Final Review

  • CSU recommends the candidate list to CSC; CSC makes the final decision.
  • Applicants who do not receive the CSC scholarship may be recommended to other programmes; check the financial type stated in your Admission Notice.

Note: You must submit materials to both systems (CSU and CSC).

  • Documents must be in Chinese or English; other languages require notarized CN/EN translations.
  • Applicants from Mainland China / Hong Kong / Macao / Taiwan who emigrated and now apply as international students must hold a foreign passport/nationality certificate for 4+ years and provide proof of renunciation of Chinese nationality.
  • Application fees are non-refundable; submitted materials are not returned.
  • The fall semester usually begins late August / early September (see your Admission Notice for exact dates). Original graduation and language-proficiency certificates are verified at registration; missing originals will lead to disqualification.
  • Annual scholarship review is required; unsatisfactory academic or daily performance may lead to suspension/termination.
