Overview

KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) is Korea’s leading science and technology university.

International students are admitted directly into KAIST’s undergraduate program and follow a non-declared major system: during the first year, students do not have a fixed major. At the end of the second semester, they freely choose a department that matches their interests, with no internal quota between majors.

KAIST’s goal is to attract highly motivated students in STEM fields and to educate future global leaders who value curiosity, creativity, ethical responsibility, and contribution to society.

  1. Admission announcement dates may change slightly.

  3. Recommendation emails are sent after the application fee is paid, so it is safer to pay the fee early.
  4. Once the application fee is paid, you cannot switch between EARLY and REGULAR tracks.
  5. Because the process is time-consuming, KAIST strongly recommends completing the online application at least one week before the deadline.
  6. Interviews are not mandatory. Only applicants selected by the admissions committee will be invited individually by email.

Eligibility Criteria

International applicants must meet all of the following conditions.

  1. High-school graduation timing

      • Neither parent is a Korean citizen; or
      • The applicant completed all elementary, junior high, and high school education outside Korea, at a comparable level to the Korean system.

      • The applicant and both parents are not Korean citizens, and
      • They meet all other general eligibility requirements above.

  6. Major choice & quotas
