The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship at the University of Toronto is one of the most distinguished full-ride awards available to international students. It recognizes individuals with outstanding academic performance and leadership potential.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship, you must:

  • Be classified as an international student (not a Canadian citizen and requiring a study permit)
  • Be nominated by your high school
  • Be in your final year of secondary school in 2025/2026, or have completed it no earlier than June 2025
  • Plan to enroll at the University of Toronto in September 2026
  • Satisfy the U of T high school admission criteria for your country and academic system

Note: Students who are currently enrolled in any post-secondary institution, or who plan to start such studies in January 2026, are not eligible to apply.

Required Documents

  • Completed undergraduate admission application to the University of Toronto
  • Pearson Scholarship application (link sent only after U of T admission and school nomination)
  • A confirmed nomination from your secondary school (each school may nominate just one student)
  • Academic transcripts (official grade reports)
  • Personal statement highlighting your academic record and leadership experiences
  • Letters of recommendation (typically from school staff or educators)
  • Proof of English language proficiency (such as IELTS or TOEFL)

Eligible Countries

This scholarship is open to applicants from around the world. International students studying in Canadian secondary schools are also eligible, as long as they are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

  • Full tuition fees for four years
  • Coverage of books and incidental expenses

How to Apply

  1. Get a school nomination
    • Schools that haven't previously nominated must register here
    • Schools already registered can access nomination materials starting July 1, 2025
  2. Apply to the University of Toronto
  3. Submit your Pearson Scholarship application
    • After nomination and admission, you'll receive a private link to the Pearson form
    • Complete your application and upload all documents by November 6, 2025

Note: Scholars are chosen based on academic excellence, originality in leadership, and active involvement in their communities.

Important Notes

  • You can submit only one application type. If multiple are submitted, only the first will be processed; others will be canceled with no refund
  • Do not submit both an OUAC and a U of T International Application—doing so will void one of them
  • If applying to several Ontario universities, use the OUAC Undergraduate Application
  • If you’re applying solely to the University of Toronto, live outside Canada, and haven’t studied there before, you may use the U of T International Application instead
  • Each applicant can only create one OUAC account
  • Application fee: CAD $188 (non-refundable)
  • Any document issued in a language other than English or French must include a notarized translation
  • Admission decisions may be based on uploaded unofficial documents, but official versions are required for enrollment
