Overview

The Radboud Scholarship Programme (RSP) is a highly competitive award for talented, highly motivated non-EEA students with excellent academic records. It supports a full English-taught Radboud University Master’s programme.

    • Faculty of Law (4)

    • Faculty of Philosophy, Theology & Religious Studies (3)

    • Faculty of Social Sciences (8)
  • Duration: for the nominal length of the Master’s programme.

Timeline

  • Submit application in OSIRIS no later than 31 January 2026, 23:59 CEST. Your file will be checked by Student Admissions; you’ll be asked to pay the handling fee and to correct/complete any items.
  • Complete file deadline: 14 February 2026, 23:59 CEST. Incomplete applications are not considered. It’s recommended to provide your proof of English proficiency by this date as well.
  • Outcome: you will be informed before mid-April 2026 (subject to change) by Student Life and International Mobility.

Eligibility Criteria

  • All English-taught Master’s programmes qualify except: Erasmus Mundus and joint-degree Master’s programmes.
  • You are eligible only if you:
    1. hold a non-EU/non-EEA passport;
    2. are not eligible for the lower EU/EEA tuition fee for any reason;
    3. obtained (or will obtain) a Bachelor’s degree outside the Netherlands, hold no Dutch degrees, and did not receive prior education in the Netherlands (exchange within a non-Dutch Bachelor’s is allowed);
    4. meet the English-language requirement for your chosen Master’s;
    5. have full admission to an English-taught Master’s starting 1 September 2026 (as stated in your formal admission letter);
    6. meet visa conditions for the Netherlands;
    7. will be enrolled full-time at Radboud University in the academic year and Master’s programme for which the scholarship is awarded.

  • Bachelor’s diploma (or equivalent)
  • Official transcript for the Bachelor’s (or equivalent)
  • Sworn translations of diploma and transcript (where applicable)
  • Course descriptions for unfinished courses
  • Course descriptions for completed courses
  • Personal statement / motivation letter (programme-dependent)
  • Two reference letters (see Radboud reference guidelines)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • English-language certificate
    • You may apply without the certificate. If admitted and your admission email lists it as a requirement, you must submit proof before the enrolment deadline. If your previous education proves English proficiency, a certificate is not required.
  • Handling fee
    • Non-EU/EEA applicants must pay a handling fee before processing. See the handling fee page for full instructions.

Funding

  • The scholarship reduces tuition to €2,695. (Example for 2026/2027: instead of ~€18,000 — programme-dependent — the grant holder pays .)
  • It also covers: visa, residence permit, health insurance, and liability insurance (Aon Student Insurance).
  • Not covered: general costs of living and studying in the Netherlands.
  • The scholarship can be combined with the NL Scholarship

How to Apply

  • While submitting your Master’s application in OSIRIS, indicate that you wish to apply for the Radboud Scholarship.
  • You will be prompted to upload three additional documents: two reference letters and a CV. If you already uploaded these for your Master’s application, you can reuse the same documents for the scholarship upload.

Important Notes

  • Two-year programmes: to receive the grant again in year 2, you must have passed all first-year courses.
  • Selection criteria:Academic excellence
    • Outstanding results (grades, test scores, publications)
    • Relevance of your previous degree to the Master’s
    • Ranking of the institution where you obtained prior degree(s)
    Ambition
    • Quality/relevance of your motivation letter
    • Demonstrated promise based on achievements and work in the field
    • Life experience and/or extracurriculars (e.g., internships, volunteering)
    References
    • Strength and substance of the two reference letters
